Joanne de Leon, an award-winning illustrator, is responsible for all the whimsical illustrations in this book. She received her B.F.A major in Painting from the University of the Philippines in 1991 and currently works as a freelance book illustrator and graphic designer. Her illustrations have appeared in a number of children's books, includiing Antukin: Philippine Folk Songs and Lullabyes and Tiger on the Wall. She also designs for trade publications and cookery books.

Background on the Author and Illustrator
Liana Romulo, a publisher, writerm and editor has retold the stories in this book. After receiving her B.A. cum laude degree in English, Barnard College at Columbia University, she worked firsted as Editor, then Managing Editor, of New York's leading book producer of children's mass-market fiction. Romulo returned to Manila, her birthplace, in 1995, and established R&G Publications, Inc., a full-service custom-publishing firm.
