In this engaging story about identity, loyalty, and what it really means to be a family, Guji Guji makes some pretty big decisions about who he is, what he is, and what it all means, anyway.
Book Description from Front Cover Flap
Raised from an egg by Mother Duck, Guji Guji is quite content with his life as a duckling, despite the fact that he doesn't look anything like his brothers. Then one fateful day, he meets up with three nasty, grinning creatures who not only convince him that he is, like them, a crocodile, but also try to persuade him to deliver his fat, delicious duck relatives for their dinner! What's a "crocoduck" to do? Readers and listeners will cheer for this unlikely but endearing hero as he figures out a way to save both the day and the ducks.
Book Description from the Back Cover
Guji Guji is just your ordinary, everyday, run-of-the-mill duck…um, crocodile…um, duck…
Comments from the Author
This story was inspired by a friend of mine. My friend is American, but of Korean ancestry. He was adopted as a baby by a non-Korean family, and he sometimes felt a bit isolated and alone, growing up in a community where he was noticeably "different" looking. The same thing happens in Taiwan, too. It is my hope that children from all over the world can learn to accept different people and things, and see the world with broader views and minds. The birth of every single child is a miracle, worthy of our respect.
