Book Description from Back Cover

"Jut-Ay, peek-a-boo!
Want to play?
Where are you"

It's morning, and Papa wants to play "Jut-Ay!" with his little girl, but where is she hiding? Can the animals all around help to find her, or are they playing hide-and-seek, too? Join them in their tender, noisy game in this gloriously illustrated read-aloud from the creator of the Caldecott Honor Book Hush! A Thai Lullaby.

"Jut-Ay" (pronounced like "Shut" and the "A" in "ABC") is the exclamation that Thai people use when they play "peek-a-boo" with their children.

Background on the Author and Illustrator

Minfong Ho is the author of the Caldecott Honor Book Hush!, as well as many other books for children. She says of Peek!, "As a child in Thailand, I grew up with the game 'Jut-Ay, want to play?' and then enjoyed playing it with my own children, too. Now I can play it with kids everywhere!" Minfong Ho lives in Ithaca, New York, but goes back to Thailand frequently to play "Jut-Ay" with children there.

Holly Meade has illustrated many acclaimed children's books, including Hush!, Blue Bowl Down: An Appalachian Rhyme by C.M. Millen, and That's What Friends Are For by Florence Parry Heide. She says, "Hiding, peeking, seeking - what child the world over doesn't delight in these things? Creating these pictures brought me back to the days when I played such games with my own children - and the happy surprises and hugs they inevitably led to." Holly Meade lives on the Maine coast.
