Background on Ying Chang Compestine and YongSheng Xuan

Ying Chang Compestine grew up in China and later moved to the United States. Her books include The Story of Chopsticks, The Story of Noodles, The Story of Kites, and The Story of Paper, all featuring the Kang brothers and illustrated by YongSheng Xuan. Ms. Compestine lives with her family in California. You can visit her on the web at www.yingc.com.

YongSheng Xuan is an acclaimed illustrator of many books for children, including The Rooster's Antlers: A Story of the Chinese Zodiac by Eric A. Kimmel, as well as Ying Chang Compestine's The Story Of series. School Library Journal praised his art for its "feeling of action and life as well as a sense of traditional Chinese art."
