Background on Nguyen Ngoc Bich

Nguyen Ngoc Bich Is an educator, author, writer and translator from the Vietnamese. His first book, A Thousand Years of Vietnamese Poetry, was published in 1975 by Alfred A. Knopf of New York.

Having served from 1991 to 1993 as Deputy, then Acting Director of the Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs, U.S. Department of Education, he is keenly aware of the need for reliable materials on the cultural background of students entering our schools. Hence this book which he would like to dedicate to all the children in America.
