Hello AACP Newsletter Blog Readers.

We’ve posted our July Newsletter. Have a look.

This month’s articles include an interview with author Judith Kajiwara. She has a new children’s book called “Silly Green Mask.”

I enjoyed her book and doing the interview with her. It’s always great when I learn something when I interview people and in this case, I learned something about Butoh dance. Judith is also a performer and teacher of Butoh.

For our other article, we have a report on the Supreme Court case of “303 Creative LLC v. Elenis.” Everyone should be informed about what the decision means for laws that try to prevent discrimination by businesses that serve the public.

Hey, check out part 2 of our 2023 summer reading list.

On a sad note, I’ve just recently learned that poet Amy Uyematsu passed away (Rafu Shimpo has an obituary on her). I didn’t get to mention this in our current newsletter. As some of you may remember, I interviewed Amy for our January newsletter this year. She was a long time AACP supporter and newsletter reader.

I never had the chance to get to know her until I did this interview. I’m glad I had this opportunity. The interview also afforded me the chance to read some of her work. Florence (Hongo; former head of AACP) once told me that she enjoyed Amy’s writing, but I never had a chance to read it until I did this interview. Florence, as she was so often, was right.

Goodbye Amy. Thanks again for doing an interview with us and for allowing me and our readers to get to know you.

Bye.
