With great sorrow we announce the passing of Mas and Florence Hongo earlier this month.

For those of you that do not know them, Florence was a co-founder and head of AACP, and Mas was her husband who worked tirelessly along side of her and the rest of us. Florence was still actively participating with our board up until the end. Florence passed away a week after Mas.

Mas was nearly 103-years-old and Florence was 94.

We hope to write more about them for our next newsletter. Until then, you can read Florence’s article about the beginning of AACP in our May 2020 newsletter article.

There is also a short 2014 video interview that we did with Mas in the town of Locke, California.

A memorial service for both of them is planned for June 24. Stay tuned for further details.
